Create a workspace that inspires you to do what you love.
As both a wedding planner and event designer, having an office outside of my home was a big goal for me! I created this goal after being in business for one year.
I quickly learned that I needed an office I could step into and be ‘Belle Bodas and Events’. More importantly, I wanted the ability to turn the lights off and officially ‘clock-out’ of my work mode.
If you work from home, you probably know that disconnecting from your business is quite impossible. The boundaries between work and home are almost unattainable to create when you’re living in your place of work.
Well, low and behold, after being in business for three years full-time, I finally got my own office and it was an absolute game changer for my small business!
I worked from the ground up to be able to afford and decorate my own space. So you already know with this achievement came an executed design plan. I was very particular about anything making its way on or around my walls.
The elements surrounding my workspace are a reflection of not only my business but my core self. Curating my office space meant being mindful of my decor and business tools.
Here I share 3 decor and tools to consider for your office space:
A well-designed desk! Your desk is where all of the magic and creativity flows, so it needs to be a place you’re excited to work at. I have a wall desk from West Elm that makes me feel like a BOSS WOMAN every time I take my seat. I also love the layers of top shelves, as they allow me to decorate and add little touches of my own branding personality!
My cell-phone stand has to be a priority on the list. I work on my phone as much as I do my computer! With all of today’s apps and the constant notifications, it’s nice to have a full view of my phone’s screen. A great tip when hosting a Zoom meeting is turning on your “do not disturb” setting on your computer, while still having your phone visible to glance at.
Last but not least, my emerald green couch. I’m someone who has to be comfortable when I am creating! Whether it be a couple’s design brochure or a floral review, I love having a space of my own that allows me to lounge. I’ll reserve some afternoon time when it’s only me to stretch out my legs, place my laptop on my lap, and get some creative juices flowing.
