Kiss Me At Midnight

A modern wedding take on New Years Eve – aka the editorial that made us Pinterest famous!

When Natalie from, Natalie Wynn Design, reached out to me about designing this shoot I was OVER THE MOON excited! She showed me the dresses and that’s exactly where I found my inspiration for the design concept of the whole shoot. I love those stardust gowns so much that I’m just waiting for my perfect moment to order one. As I’m already a married woman, I’m thinking my 5-year vow renewal, because we all know life is too damn short to overthink a dress! I already know I’d feel like a queen in it too, so why not!?

I wanted to honor Natalie’s dresses because as a designer myself, I know the work that goes into bringing a vision to life. A lot of time, thought, energy, and more thought. I decided to honor her designs by creating three separate installations, not just one. The theme of moon and stars just speaks to my spiritual side + my personal practices that I just had to do more than one. I had the time of my life designing these three different concepts! Sometimes I can’t believe this is “work.”

When looking for studios to shoot at, I fell upon Miesh’s Studio that is located at U.West in SLC, Utah. I knew Miesh’s Studio was the one because that dark navy wall would make any install pop, especially large gold stars! The gold stars paired with the dark navy wall scene is my favorite of the three. I loved it so much I asked the photographer to take a picture of me with it, something I NEVER do! But hey, when you feel it, you feel it, right? And now it’s one of my favorite photos of myself.

The next two scenes I wanted to bring to life – a bar cart with a mini champagne tower and a half-moon install made up of floral. I felt the bar cart would be the perfect touch for any wedding that’s going for a NYE atmosphere. If I were a couple using this editorial as inspiration, I would do the following:

  • Put my bridesmaids in the stardust gowns to make the perfect glam squad!
  • Hang crescent moon shaped floral install’s all around the bar to give the bar a fun pop!
  • Use several different bar carts to create elements of surprises on – like champagne towers that guests can just grab a drink from!
  • Embellish the ceremony scene by hanging large gold stars all around you and yours!

Be sure to let us know if you use our editorial for your NYE inspired event and don’t forget to read more about our shoot on Green Wedding Shoes!
