Let’s Get Married in Greece

A mindful + captivating editorial curated with delicate traditional Greek touches and traditions.

Ashlee Brooke Photo and I had been wanting to create together for a while, so when it came time to decide the theme of our editorial, we looked at several different cultures for inspiration.

We decided on going with the Greek culture, as we both find it to be fascinating and beautiful. I expressed my love for playing off of traditions and that’s what we did. The Greek wedding traditions I chose to design for this shoot include traditional crowns that are joined together, called Stefana’s, that represent the union of two souls, smashing dishes, which is a sign of good luck, and a guitarist as music plays a big part in Greek culture.

I, however, had the most fun designing the tablescape! I chose to go with gold tones and ivory blends because I always think of Greece in gold marble tones. Athens, anyone?

My favorite scene just so happened to fall upon us while shooting that morning, the cathedral! I love the photos of the bride in the cathedral, as it takes me back to my private catholic high school days.

It’s always an honor to design from culture. I’m now craving musaka, one of my favorite Greek dishes I ate while in Greece a few years ago. Musaka means music in Greek and is very similar to lasagna, only a million times better!
