How To Tip Your Wedding Vendor

An image reflecting the topic of tipping your wedding vendor. Behind the title are a pair of hands holding some cash, 100 dollar bills. There is also a Macbook laptop in the picture.

Are you at the stage of planning where you’re asking yourself, “Which wedding vendor should I tip? How much? and When?”

WHY tip your wedding vendors?

You have put together your wedding budget but might have failed to include one expense – vendor tips! While vendor tipping is not required, it is most definitely appreciated. It’s a thoughtful gesture that goes a long way with your vendor, trust me. Tip your vendors for meeting or exceeding your expectations. Gratuities can be considered on a case-by-case basis, but whatever you do, please do not forget about your small business owners!

HOW to tip?

  1. Plan at least a week ahead of time.
  2. Go to the bank & pull out cash.
  3. Put each tip into a sealed and labeled envelope.
  4. Give the tipping job to a responsible member of the bridal party, parent, or family member.

WHAT is the protocol for each vendor?

To help ease this process for you, we have broken it down to a T. We have categorized each vendor to the standard protocol of what is expected and when. Reference back to this list when setting up your wedding budget or talking to your planner.

*A Pro Tip*

Give your sealed cash envelope tips to your wedding planner at the ceremony rehearsal. She or he will take care of giving them to all of your vendors at the perfect time! The bride and groom usually don’t get the chance to see a lot of the vendors at their wedding, for example, the florist, the cake baker, delivery & staff, etc. This will make things easier for you and give you one less thing to stress about on your wedding day!

Other ways to support your wedding vendors include:

  • Write them a glowing review
  • Sharing & posting their work on your social media platforms
  • Write them a thank you card
  • Buy them a gift that supports another small business
